Description
May 2, 2023 on The Story: Nearly lost in the flood of Oregon news on Tuesday was the revelation that Governor Tina Kotek has directed state transportation officials to hold off implementing tolls on I-205 or I-5 until 2026 at the request of lawmakers from areas that would be impacted. The first set of those tolls, slated for I-205 on either side of West Linn, were supposed to begin in late 2024. Lawmakers said that the pause will give them time to form a new subcommittee meant to oversee ODOT's infrastructure repair and modernization plans, including efforts to mitigate the impact of tolling on vulnerable communities. Tonight we're taking a closer look at what's been said about this moratorium on tolling thus far and what it means.
