Description
April 14, 2023 on The Story: At the beginning of 2023, the state of Oregon changed its employee payroll system, ditching a program built in the 1980s for Workday Payroll and Time Tracking. But ever since, the state has been playing a game of whack-a-mole, fixing employee payroll issues just for new ones to pop up. Thousands of employees have been underpaid, while others were overpaid. Critics say the system simply wasn't built to serve government employees, and the problems should have been easy to anticipate given the system's track record with other government bodies. Now, Oregon faces several lawsuits over the continuing errors.
