Description
There’s a Steiner Log Cabin in Portland where Susan Schlesinger guides tours. "This is the only Steiner Cabin in Portland proper."
The springtime tours are happening now. Built in 1938 and 1939, Ross Fogelquist has lived in Fogelbo for 70 years. "I think people are kind of amazed. Oh!? We didn't realize the house was this big. And they come in, ahh, this is amazing!"
The Steiner family built around one hundred of these log cabins in and around Mt Hood between 1927 and 1952. Made from native logs that become walls, ceilings, stair railings, doors and even doorknobs.
The tours are popular so they require a reservation. www.nordicnorhthwest.org/fogelbo-tours To keep the cabin for future visitors, Ross has gifted his home to the non-profit, Nordic Northwest.
