Description
Carefully stored in an undisclosed place is a piece of history safely waiting for a new future. The 95 year old Jantzen Beach Carousel.
Restore Oregon’s Director of Carousel Planning Stephanie Brown, tours the collection. "You can see that his tail is broken. That he's got some glue joint separation here."
The preservation plan is ready. "We know exactly what we need to do to put the carousel back together again."
In 1928 the Jantzen Beach Amusement park opened with the carousel to 40,000 weekend visitors. In 1970 it became the centerpiece at the new Jantzen Beach Mall. Later it was dismantled to make way for expansion.
They need one other thing. "To try and find a home."
