Description
Jan. 13, 2022 on The Story: Medford's Mail Tribune can trace its pedigree back to the early 1900s. Despite a long and storied history, the writing has been on the wall for at least a few years now — the paper was dying. It stopped producing a print publication in the fall. Today was its last day in operation, after the publisher announced just days ago that it would shut down entirely. But the paper's story isn't all that unique. It's just a symptom of a suffering local news ecosystem that seems unable to thrive in the digital age.
