Description
Twenty years ago this week, former Clackamas County deputy Damon Coates was shot in the face by a 15-year-old boy in the midst of a mental health crisis. Coates was paralyzed, and his condition has been a rollercoaster ride ever since. After we aired our story on Coates this week, many people responded with their memories of the man and their opinions on Oregon’s mental health system.
