Description
Meals on Wheels’ "The Diner Vancouver" is the place for active seniors to be out and about with all ages of diners. Janice Butzke operates the restaurant to help those who may feel isolated.
"They can be out with the rest of the public.," Butzke said. "They can bring their grandkids in. If they want to sit for more than an hour, they can."
Taylor Dpuis is a server at The Diner.
"Everybody's interested in knowing how we're related to Meals on Wheels," Dpuis said.
Fresh and local food is served by staff, who are paid a living wage. Tips aren't accepted. Instead, the customers make donation tips that go to running The Diner.
"Our motto is 'Serving More Than Just A Meal.'"
The Diner Vancouver says that anyone 60 and up can apply to the Diners Club. Proceeds go back to the diner and support the Meals on Wheels mission.
