Jan. 4, 2022 on The Story: In Oregon and Washington, gas taxes pay for road upkeep, bridges and other transportation projects. So with cars increasingly going hybrid and electric, how do they plan to replace that revenue? Well in Oregon, at least, they've been thinking about it for decades. There's already a pretty well-developed alternative, which would simply charge drivers for the miles they travel, particularly on state roads.
