Description
Dec. 21, 2022 on The Story: The ice storm that we're expecting to start tomorrow has us feeling nostalgic. Remember "Snowmageddon" of December 2016? Some drivers were stranded in the snow for 8 hours, and many just abandoned their cars and walked away. As it happens, that event caused ODOT to revisit some of its policies. For decades, the agency did not lay salt down on snowbound or icy roadways, despite its common use elsewhere in the U.S. The 2016 storm and the frustration that came with it prompted the agency to accelerate its re-adoption of using salt. We'll take a look at that, more on the severe weather we're expecting this week, and some equally interesting stories tonight.
