An 80-foot illuminated art sculpture is being installed at Oregon State University's Corvallis campus, where it will be suspended in midair for the next 14 months among three 80-year-old sequoia trees. The sculpture is called "Emeritus." Peter Betjemann, the executive director of arts and education at the university, is helping with the installation. "An artwork that is engaged with both the incredible resilience of sequoia trees and the vulnerability of sequoia trees," said Betjemann. Forestry professor Matt Betts said, with forest fires burning hotter, sequoias are at risk. "The art, combined with the science, will motivate action and motivate concern."
