Sept. 30, 2022 on The Story: In less than six weeks, Portlanders will decide the fate of a proposal that would reshape the city's government structure. The charter reform proposal would switch Portland's commission-style government to one where city operations are run by a professional city manager who reports to the mayor. According to a poll from the Oregonian/OregonLive, the vast majority of voters said they'd support the measure, while others said they're open to arguments on why reform is flawed.
