The Blanchet House in Portland’s Old Town District is celebrating its 70th year of service, and now executive director Scott Kerman has a 2,500 square-foot mural being painted on the side of the building to honor their volunteers and services. "So bright and so positive, that I hope it just makes people feel good," Kerman said. "I hope it makes people smile." Muralist Travis Fields is honoring Blanchet's work and volunteers all over the side of the building. "I’m creating an image that highlights the meal service component of the Blanchet House," he said. In the mural, Blanchet House volunteer Stacee Scott is two stories tall. "It was very flattering to be asked to be on the wall. The guests are recognizing me. There's a connection there,” Scott said. The work will immortalize volunteers who feed those in need and the people they serve. Blanchet House feeds the hungry six days a week.
