Description
Parkinson's Resources of Oregon is showcasing the quilt work of Judith Lynne.
"What I've found happening in the quilts is that I channel a lot of that energy into the quilts," Lynne said.
Lynne has been working on quilts for the 'Energizing Life With Color' show for years. Quilting has been part of finding her new normal after her diagnosis.
"I started to notice that my left side wasn't working in harmony with my right side,” she recalled.
An OHSU neurologist diagnosed her with Parkinson’s, and she said that the doctor could tell right away.
Parkinson's Resources Executive Director Holly Chaimov says there is no known cure, and no one knows what causes Parkinson's. But there are ways, like Lynne has found, to live with it.
"Let people rediscover what they can do, instead of being focused on what they can't," Chaimov said.
Lynne chose not to waste her life, but to live it.
"And I thought, what if my best years are yet to come?"
