July 19, 2022 on The Story: Oregon has only ever passed one ballot measure involving guns, and that was two decades ago after a mass shooting in Eugene in the '90s. That could change in November after an advocacy group gathered more than 130,000 signatures for a major gun control measure to appear on the ballot. It would require a permit to purchase any gun, which would involve a background check and hours of training.
