Description
The warm weather sticks with us to kick off the new workweek, but this morning through the early afternoon, we will have to keep an eye on the sky for some rain and storms.
There is a small chance these storms could turn severe, with damaging winds and an isolated tornado the main threats. However, most storms that develop should remain non-severe and could be accompanied with heavy downpours and strong, gusty winds. The storms look to develop just after 6 AM for our western counties, slated to moving through the Columbus metro between 8-10 AM (unfortunately during the morning commute!) The line will move from west to east, and is expected to exit central Ohio between 1-2pm at the current track.
Thankfully, once the rain and storms pass through, we will see things clear up just in time for the second half of the day and it will be warm, with highs expected to climb into the mid-70s!
Skies will stay mainly clear this evening, which will be great for sky watchers trying to catch a glimpse of the Lyrids Meteor shower (which is expected to peak tonight as well as tomorrow night)!
As we move into Tuesday and Wednesday, we will dry out and continue to stay mild! Skies will be mostly sunny, and highs will climb into the low 70s Tuesday and then approach the low 80s for Wednesday and Thursday.
Our next weather system looks to arrive late Thursday, and with the current timing, could bring rain/storms overnight and into Friday. Widespread rain looks likely as we end the workweek and move into the first half of the weekend, so we will continue to monitor those chances all week. Highs will start to fall both days, dropping to the mid-70s on Friday and mid-60s on Saturday.
