Columbus Mayor Andrew Ginther will deliver the State of the City on Wednesday, where he is expected to go over accomplishments, updates and his vision for the future.
He is expected to discuss several topics, including housing, jobs and community safety.
During the speech, Ginther will announce that a third Columbus affordable housing bond will be placed on the November ballot.
The proposal will include investments in fire stations and police substations, vehicles and equipment, parks and trails, roadway resurfacing, water and power infrastructure and more.
The full details will be announced next month.
He will also announce the next three areas where the Clean and Safe Corridor Initiative will be implemented.
10TV's Collin Dorsey sat down with Ginther on Tuesday to talk about the speech and what improvements he thinks the city has made this past year.
Ginther highlighted a reduction in youth violence. He says the city is making progress in addressing youth violence by investing in community programs and strengthening relationships with the juvenile justice system.
When asked at what point the community should say "enough is enough," the mayor pointed to the reduction in the number of homicides and felonious assaults last year.
"We know there's great success taking place here based on the great work from the Columbus Division of Police, the number of tips coming in from the community. But we have to be vigilant and stay focused on making sure that we stay committed to this comprehensive safety strategy: prevention, intervention and enforcement," Ginther said.
