Description
The Colorado football program announced Monday it will return the uniform numbers worn by Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter.
Colorado said it will retire Hunter's No. 12 and Sanders' No. 2 at the school's Spring Game at Folsom Field on Saturday.
They will join four other Colorado players who have their numbers retired — Rashaan Salaam’s No. 19, Byron White’s No. 24, Joe Romig’s No. 67 and Bobby Anderson’s No. 11.
Hunter, who played cornerback and wide receiver, won the Heisman Trophy, Walter Camp Award and both the AP and Sporting News Player of the Year honors.
Hunter finished his CU career with 153 receptions for 1,989 yards and 20 touchdowns, adding a rushing touchdown for 21 total scores on offense, and with 67 tackles, seven interceptions, 16 pass breakups and a force fumble on defense. Hunter played 2,625 snaps in two seasons despite missing what amounted to almost five games due to injury.
Sanders threw for 7,364 yards and 64 touchdowns, against 13 interceptions, in his two seasons in Boulder. He also ran for eight scores. Sanders won the Johnny Unitas award as the top quarterback in college football in 2024. Sanders owns over 100 school records, including career passing touchdowns, despite only playing two seasons in Boulder.
