Description
The Denver Department of Public Health and Environment (DDPHE) and the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) confirmed a case of measles in an infant in Denver on Monday.
According to the media release, the infant in Denver, who is under a year old, is too young to be vaccinated as part of a routine vaccine schedule. Babies normally get the routine dose of measles, mumps and rubella (MMR) vaccine at 12-15 months, CDPHE said. The infant recently traveled to an area of Chihuahua, Mexico, that is experiencing an ongoing measles outbreak, according to CDPHE. Currently, evidence shows that the Denver case is likely not linked to the measles case in Pueblo, the media release says.
