A passenger aboard the American Airlines flight that caught fire Thursday night at Denver International Airport said the flight was fine until they got to the gate, and then the cabin became chaotic.
Jon Johnson was on Flight AA1006 from Colorado Springs to Dallas-Fort Worth. The plane left the Colorado Springs airport at 4:37 p.m. before being diverted to Denver, according to FlightAware.
There were 172 passengers and six crew members aboard the Boeing 737-800, according American Airlines. Twelve passengers had minor injuries and were taken to a hospital.
After takeoff from Colorado Springs, the passengers were told the flight was diverting to Denver due to an issue with an engine.
