The former Lakeside town clerk and daughter of the former police chief pleaded guilty Monday to a single count of embezzlement after she was accused of purchasing multiple cars from the city below market value and then selling them for a profit. Brenda Hamilton had been charged with 10 counts, but the other nine counts were dismissed as part of the plea deal. She will be sentenced in May.
