Description
A powerful spring storm is moving out after leaving behind a windy mess across the Eastern Plains and the Denver metro area overnight, with up to 65 mph winds reported.
While the snow mostly was lower impact — though the Palmer Divide and Eastern Plains got a few inches of heavy, wet snow — the wind is the story, and it'll stay that way through the day Tuesday.
The 9NEWS Weather Impact Team has issued a Weather Impact Alert for Tuesday due to the strong winds.
Gusts will howl up to 50-60 mph through Tuesday from Interstate 25 on east, with some occasional 65 mph gusts possible in spots.
A High Wind Warning is up for most of eastern Colorado until 5 p.m. Tuesday for 50-65 mph gusts, mostly Tuesday morning and early Tuesday afternoon.
Otherwise, any rain or snow on the Eastern Plains quickly moves out Tuesday morning. In the mountains, leftover snow showers there will stick around most of the day Tuesday before those gradually dissipate.
Highs will top out in the mid-40s in Denver Tuesday, but it'll feel much colder than that with those gusty winds sticking around all day long.
Dozens of schools have announced closures and delays for Tuesday as the storm impacts eastern Colorado.
