Description
A popular Colorado media personality is retiring after 53 years on the radio dial.
Murphy Huston announced he will retire from Denver radio station KOSI 101.1 FM on Tuesday, ending a 28-year run on the radio station and 38 years in Colorado.
After graduating from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, Huston began his radio career at WRAC in Racine, Wisconsin, in 1971. Huston worked five years at WRIE in Erie, Pennsylvania, and eight years at WISN in Milwaukee.
Huston began his Colorado radio career at KHOW in Denver in 1986, where he spent 10 years before joining KOSI in 1997.
Huston said he'll still be active with several nonprofits but is ready to slow down and spend more time with his wife and eight grandchildren.
"Murphy Huston is a true Denver radio legend," said KOSI 101 DJ Kathy J. "For 53 years, he’s brought warmth, laughter and heart to the airwaves. More than a broadcaster, he’s a devoted family man, mentor, friend and all-around great human."
"Murphy, you will be deeply missed at KOSI and across Denver’s airwaves," said Kathy J. "It’s been an honor to work with you. Wishing you all the happiness in retirement!"
