Description
A pair of Arctic cold fronts will impact Colorado's Front Range and the Denver metro area this week.
The 9NEWS Weather Impact Team has issued a Weather Impact Alert starting at 9 p.m. Monday night lasting through Thursday morning.
Expect unusually cold temperatures and light snow showers for the next few days. There's a good chance the extreme cold could last through the morning commute on Thursday.
The first front is expected to arrive in the Denver area between 1-4 p.m. on Monday. Temperatures could quickly drop into the teens by 9 p.m. Light snow showers will also develop behind the front and last through the morning commute on Tuesday.
Accumulation with the first front will be light, but driving impacts are still likely to be high because of how the snow packs onto roads at extreme cold temperatures. Tuesday morning's drive could be very slow, despite only a dusting to an inch of accumulation for most.
