Hundreds of friends, family members and former players filled the Coors Events Center on the University of Colorado campus Wednesday morning to honor former coach Bill McCartney. McCartney passed away earlier this month at his home in Boulder at the age of 84. The service lasted more than 3 hours, with many recounting tales of the legendary coach both on the field and off. “He was a husband, a father, a grandfather, a friend, a coach, and a mentor, but at his core when you think about Coach Mac, you found a man of God,” said Mark Johnson, the “Voice of the Buffs.” The theme of the service was family, football, and faith, three tenants of Coach Mac’s life that family members came above all else.
