More than a dozen people remain hospitalized in the Denver metro area after suffering frostbite or hypothermia over the bitterly cold weekend. UCHealth said 10 patients were admitted to the Burn and Frostbite Center at the University of Colorado Hospital this weekend, pushing them over capacity on the 19-bed unit. The team at UCHealth not only treats patients locally but also provides consultations for doctors in nearby states during extreme weather events. Of the 10 patients currently in the frostbite unit, six were transferred from other hospitals or flown in from neighboring states.
