A powerful Arctic cold front will arrive this weekend, keeping Colorado very cold until next Wednesday.

The temperature could be below freezing for at least 91 consecutive hours starting Friday night and lasting into the day on Tuesday in the Denver area.
The 9NEWS Weather Impact Team has issued 9NEWS Weather Impact Days into effect for Saturday, Sunday, Monday and Tuesday morning.
It now looks very certain that the Arctic cold front will make an impact in Denver by about 6 p.m. on Friday evening after what might be a fairly pleasant day with highs near normal. However, we're leaving it as a potential impact day for now until we know more about how hard hitting those first few hours will be. There is some indication in recent modeling that the first batch of cold air will mainly be centered to the east of Colorado, which would ease the initial blow a tad bit.
At least some light snow will likely develop shortly after the passage of the front and last into Saturday morning with about 2-6 inches possible by the end of the day on Saturday. Temperatures will be in the teens by sunrise on Saturday and continue to drop into Sunday morning, reaching the negatives for the first time this winter season.
There could be some light flurries through the rest of the day on Saturday and early Sunday before another wave of accumulating snow comes Sunday night into Monday, and another 1-3 inches possible. Most of that snow will likely fall on Monday morning.
