Description
A significant Arctic outbreak is expected to bring subzero temperatures to Colorado over the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday weekend.
The 9NEWS Weather Impact Team said temperatures could drop to -10 degrees Fahrenheit or lower in the Denver metro area after the cold front arrives, bringing the coldest air of the season by far.
There will also be the potential for several inches of snow in the blast of arctic air scheduled to arrive Friday night.
The 9NEWS Weather Impact Team said snow showers will quickly develop behind a powerful cold front that could even come in the daylight hours Friday.
Frigid polar cold fronts like this are notoriously very dry, but it should squeeze out at least 2 to 6 inches of snow across the Front Range. Most of the snow will come on Friday night and Saturday morning, at least the way it appears right now.
The 9NEWS Weather Impact Team has listed potential Weather Impacts Days on Friday, Saturday and Sunday during the duration of the weather event for the impact of that initial front, the snow that follows, and for the extremely cold temperatures that could last into the day on Monday.
