In a bid to reduce traffic congestion and make the city easier to navigate, Longmont has introduced a new form of public transportation called RIDE Longmont. The city officially launched the service today, something five years in the making. With the city’s growing population, local leaders say they want to reduce traffic. Mayor Joan Peck said the hope is it will be a more affordable public transportation option that can access all areas of Longmont. The new service has six-passenger vans driven by local residents.
