As Floridians prepare for the newest hurricane, Helene, to hit the state's gulf coast Thursday night authorities say the storm that was Hurricane John has killed at least two people in Mexico. John grew into a major hurricane in a matter of hours yesterday then hit just off Mexico's coast near Acapulco overnight. Its category 3 strength blew tin roofs off homes, triggered mudslides and toppling scores of trees. It has since weakened to a tropical depression, but Mexican authorities still fear flash flooding and more mudslides.
