A former DoubleTree hotel in north Denver used to shelter people experiencing homelessness is now owned by the city of Denver. Denver city and county government bought the former 300-room hotel, at 4040 N. Quebec St., on Wednesday for $43 million, according to public records. It began leasing the hotel from affordable housing nonprofit Rocky Mountain Communities last November and converted the building into a noncongregate and emergency cold weather shelter shortly after.
