Description
Chocolatina, aka the Pie Queen, returns to share her cherry tart recipe, along with some upcoming Denver Pride celebrations. Cherry tart recipe: Tart dough: • ¾ c. Butter, cold • ½ c. Sugar • ½ tsp. Salt • 1 Egg • 2 c. Flour Cream butter, sugar and salt until smooth. Add egg and mix until incorporated. Add flour and mix until dough is formed. Chill for one hour. Filling: • 1 can Cherry pie filling • 1 TBSP Lemon juice • ¼ tsp Almond extract • Zest of one Orange Combine all ingredients. Assembly and baking: Roll 2/3 of dough into a 10” round. Press into 9” tart pan. Spread filling evenly into shell. Roll the remaining dough into a rectangle. Cut strips and brush with egg wash. Place onto tart to create a lattice top. Bake at 375 degrees for 20 minutes. Turn down to 350 degrees and bake until filling is bubbling, and crust is golden brown. Let cool at room temperature, then remove from pan.
