A child was injured in a pursuit and crash involving Denver Police early Sunday morning. Denver Police said that just before 4 a.m., paramedics were flagged down by people in an SUV near 45th Avenue and North Peoria Street. The driver was standing outside of the SUV, but when the ambulance stopped, he got in the SUV and sped off. The ambulance's crew radioed out that the SUV had suspected gunshot damage to the driver's side window, police said. Officers located the SUV near 45th Avenue and North Havana Street, police said. Officers tried to pull the SUV driver over, but the driver sped off and a pursuit was authorized, a DPD spokesperson said. An officer performed a PIT maneuver, which caused the SUV to crash on Pecos Street at U.S. 36.
