Description
Guests to the Aurora Reservoir will see some temporary changes beginning Saturday, June 8, when the park begins new operating hours and temporary restrictions on alcohol use and loud music.
“Aurora Reservoir is a beautiful and unique space within the city, and one that we want all guests to be able to enjoy,” said Brooke Bell, the director of the city's Parks, Recreation and Open Space Department (PROS). “We are making these changes to improve the experience for all guests and to assist our staff in managing the large crowds we see during the warmer months.”
The park hours on Saturdays and Sundays will be 5 a.m. to 6 p.m. Guests will see increased security on the weekends to help "ensure the safety of all visitors" and assist park guests, the city said.
The temporary changes now prohibit the possession and consumption of alcohol inside the park, and the new rules prohibit loud music and will be "strictly enforced," the city said.
The city said new signs in English and Spanish are posted in the park to remind visitors of the changed hours and restrictions.
The changes won't impact any prescheduled, permitted, large-scale events or any other PROS facilities or parks, the city said.
The reservoir is open to all forms of boating and the swim beach is open for the season.
