A juvenile was critically injured in a shooting in Greeley Wednesday night.
The Greeley Police Department said in a release that officers were sent to an apartment complex in the 3700 block of 24th Street on a report of a shooting at around 8:49 p.m. Wednesday. While they were on their way, they were told that the suspect had left the scene.
When they got there, officers found a juvenile male suffering from multiple gunshot wounds with severe injuries, the release said. He was still in the hospital in critical condition Thursday night. Police have not released his age.
Officers stayed at the scene overnight to continue their investigation, according to the release. Their investigation led them to a Greeley home west of 59th Avenue, between 13th Street and 16th Street.
A reverse 911 call went out to nearby residents telling them to stay in their homes at around 6 a.m. Thursday as the police department's SWAT team was called in.
The suspect was not found in the home, and the area was cleared at around 10:30 a.m.
Greeley Police said the investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information about the case who has not already spoken with officers is asked to contact Detective Shea at 970-350-9605 or by email at [email protected].
