Yuma School District will be closed Tuesday after severe weather impacted the area Monday night.
The northeast Colorado school district said all Yuma schools, as well as its district offices, would be closed Tuesday.
"Due to the severe weather that came through town tonight, All Yuma Schools including the district offices will be closed tomorrow, Tuesday, May 21, 2024. All activities will be cancelled," the district announced.
Severe storms moved across northeast Colorado Monday night, bringing large hail, damaging winds and prompting Tornado Warnings. The northeastern corner of Colorado, and parts of Kansas and Nebraska, were under a Tornado Watch until 11 p.m. Monday.
Numerous Tornado Warnings were issued in the area. The warnings were issued due to radar-indicated rotation. There was one report of a possible tornado five miles south of Laird, Colorado, according to the National Weather Service.
