In 2019, the Delta County Sheriff’s Office hired a private company to transport an inmate from Santa Fe, New Mexico to Delta County, Colorado. On the way, the inmate, who is only identified as TP in court documents, was raped at gunpoint, in the back of the van, by her guard. In a federal court in Albuquerque, New Mexico Tuesday, a judge sentenced the guard, Marquet Johnson, to 30 years in prison. The victim's attorney, Alyssa Quijano, read this statement on the victim's behalf after the sentencing.
