The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning and Winter Weather Advisory for portions of the mountains in western Colorado, west of the Denver area. Significant snow accumulation is possible in most central and northern mountain areas, along with considerable blowing and drifting snow above timberline. As much as 18 inches of snow could fall in the higher elevations by Tuesday afternoon. 9NEWS meteorologist Chris Bianchi said if you're traveling through Colorado's mountains, especially along and north of Highway 50, try and get that drive done earlier rather than later Monday. It could be a rough ride in the high country, especially at or above pass level, after dark Monday night.
