The Denver Sheriff Department is warning about a new phone scam requesting payment in bitcoin. The department says someone calls and identifies himself as a Denver Sheriff's Deputy, even reciting a fake badge number. They then tell the victim a warrant has been issued for their arrest for failing to appear in court. To remove the warrant, they tell the victim to go to a Bitcoin machine and pay to avoid jail time.
