Deion Sanders was honored as the 2023 Sports Illustrated Sportsperson of the Year at a public event Wednesday. Amazon Prime Video hosted an event to recognize the University of Colorado's head football coach. Coach Prime accepted the 2023 Sports Illustrated Sportsperson of the Year award in front of thousands of CU fans Wednesday night at the CU Events Center in Boulder. "I think it means impact," Sanders told 9NEWS when asked about the award. "Having total impact of the entirety of the whole thought process. I mean it's not just one ethnicity, it's not just football, it's not just sports, it's just a tremendous impact and a change, thought-provoking change that has to be responded to." Sanders and CU also celebrated the season two world premiere of the Amazon Prime Video docuseries "Coach Prime." The docuseries, which made its public debut Thursday, provides an inside look at CU Boulder and the school's football program.
