The Food Bank said that dairy is one of the most requested food groups from people who use the food banks -- but dairy is also one of the more expensive food groups, and retailers stopped donating as much during the pandemic. So the food bank teamed up with Colorado-based Leprino Foods. Leprino makes large blocks of mozzarella cheese, and donates about 1,000 pounds to Weld Food Bank each week. Then, volunteers help cut and seal the cheese to give out at mobile food pantries.
