A man who was wearing a GPS monitor during a 2022 bank robbery in Lakewood was sentenced to five years and three months in federal prison Tuesday. Darren Connolly, 27, and James Trujillo, 25, robbed the Canvas Credit Union near Wadsworth Boulevard and Sixth Avenue armed with an AR-15 rifle and a shotgun on June 15, 2022. At the time, Connolly was on parole for a 2016 liquor store robbery. The Colorado Department of Corrections said Connolly was placed on parole in April, two months before the bank robbery.
