An investigation is underway after an alleged "home invasion" in Pinellas County, according to police. It happened at around 2 a.m. Wednesday at a residence on 40th St. North. The St. Petersburg Police Department said two men entered the home before the homeowner fired shots and injured one of the suspects. That suspect, later identified by police as Marcel James Williams, 20, was taken to the hospital, where officials say he died from his injuries. The second suspect, meanwhile, fled. No further details were immediately available.
