The U.S. Coast Guard has ended its search for 69-year-old Russell Trudeau after finding his boat on Monday. Trudeau, described as a recreational boater, left Sunday from the Palmetto area in his 17-foot boat and never returned. The Coast Guard found his boat the next day off Piney Point. In an update on Tuesday, the Coast Guard said it suspended its search after covering approximately 180 square miles. The agency added that Palmetto police would continue searching on land.
