Description
The Tampa Bay Rays kicked off their 2025 season this Friday at Steinbrenner Field in Tampa, a temporary home necessitated by hurricane damage to Tropicana Field.
The transformation of the Yankees’ spring training venue into a Rays-branded ballpark has been a monumental effort, blending visible upgrades with behind-the-scenes improvements.
“We are incredibly grateful to be here at this improbable moment,” Bill Walsh, the Rays’ chief business officer, said.
The rebranding includes new signage, logos and over 3,000 pieces of art installed throughout the stadium.
Walsh emphasized that some upgrades, like enhanced broadcast cabling, expanded locker rooms, and improved Wi-Fi connectivity, are less visible but equally significant.
The Rays have also revamped their locker rooms and dining facilities, ensuring they meet Major League Baseball standards.
A photo of the storm-damaged Tropicana Field at the entrance to the visitors’ locker room serves as a poignant reminder of why the team is here and acknowledges the Yankees’ collaboration in making this transition possible.
