Description
Pasco County Fire Rescue Chief Anthony "Tony" Perez has resigned just more than a year after he took over the position.
The department confirmed the news on Thursday without providing details on what led to Perez's decision.
Assistant Chief Ryan Guynn will step in as interim fire chief "during this time of transition," a spokesperson for Pasco County Fire Rescue said.
Perez was named fire chief in July 2023 and officially assumed the role after a transfer of command ceremony on Aug. 1, 2023.
The outgoing chief worked for both Pasco Fire Rescue and Tampa Fire Rescue over his 26-year career, serving as a firefighter, paramedic, driver engineer, captain, district chief, shift commander, chief of operations and personnel chief.
