Description
What started as a simple fundraising idea has transformed into a fun community event, bringing joy, entertainment and thousands of dollars in donations for important causes. The Sun City Center Men's Golden Review, an all-male dance troupe, is proving that retirement can be anything but boring.
From twisting and moonwalking, to surfing and serenading, the group of energetic retirees has been dancing their way into the hearts of the community — and making a major impact along the way.
The idea for the show came from Renee Bray, who was organizing a local fundraiser. She initially recruited a handful of men to participate, hoping to raise money for breast cancer research.
“I went around and got a few guys to do this, and we raised $28,000 for breast cancer,” Bray said.
One of those early recruits was Jeff Marshall, who remembers the moment he was asked to join.
“I was on a weight machine in the gym when Renee came up and asked if I would like to be involved in something like this,” Marshall recalled. “I thought about it, talked to my wife, and she said, ‘Well, that would be wonderful.’”
