Description
A man was arrested after a Tampa gentleman's club went up in flames early Wednesday morning.
The fire happened just before 5 a.m. at the Pink Pony Showgirls club on North Lois Avenue.
Police say 29-year-old Arvin Solimanpoor entered the unoccupied building and intentionally set it on fire. A witness reported that Solimanpoor also fired a gun multiple times while inside.
Officers reportedly arrived to find Solimanpoor dragging brush into the building. They collected his handgun and took him to the police station for questioning.
While at the station, police said Solimanpoor complained of thirst and was given a bottle of water.
"After damaging a camera inside the holding area, he urinated into the empty water bottle and threw the contents onto a uniformed police officer," the police department wrote.
Solimanpoor was charged with:
arson with injury,
shooting at, within or into a building,
possession of a weapon while committing a felony,
battery on a law enforcement officer and
felony criminal mischief.
He remains at the Orient Road Jail.
Crews said the fire was extinguished within 30 minutes. One Tampa firefighter was hurt while battling the blaze and was transported to the hospital. He was treated for minor injuries and released.
