Description
This week, a new St. Petersburg police advisory committee held its first meeting after a new law dissolved the citizen review board last summer.
The St. Petersburg Police Department is cutting its civilian police review committee in half and changing its responsibilities. Now, the group will only meet to discuss policies and procedures.
Here’s a list of the seven members that make up St. Pete police's new civilian policy advisory committee, all appointed by St. Pete Police Chief Anthony Holloway.

“Their job, so we stay in compliance with the law, is to review the use of force policy, review all high liability policy and our pursuit policy cause we still want to be very transparent with our community,” Holloway said.
“I'm going to remove them from the committee if they violate the law. Other than that, I want honesty and transparency,” the police chief added.
Holloway said the previous group has been around for decades and played an influential role in guidelines around body camera usage.
“The officer's camera is always on, so when they press a button or activate their lights, their cameras will go back 30 seconds and capture the incident,” Holloway said.
But now, the group will not be allowed to review police disciplinary cases or cases under community interest, something some local lawmakers like State Representative Michele Rayner voted against.
