Description
Florida voters could soon gain the power to lower insurance premiums.
A citizens group, the Florida Constitutional Amendment Network, is pushing to add property insurance protections to our 2026 ballots.
"Those who have called this place home for decades, are just tired," Chris Wills, Chair of the Florida Constitutional Amendment Network, said. "They cannot sustain these massive rate increases year after year."
The proposed constitutional amendment seeks to protect policyholders from seeing all insurance policies, from home to auto, canceled or raised.
Essentially, if a policyholder adheres to the terms of their contract, then their policy may not be canceled. Moreover, if they adhere to their terms and don't file any claims within a year, their policy may not be raised. It also calls for an annual 4% minimum deduction for those who've filed no claims.
