When Hurricane Helene hit, it wasn't the first, second or even third flood event the home that was purchased by Melanie Cook and partner Shawn just months prior to last year's back-to-back storms sustained. Once the couple learned of the extent of the repeated flooding history, the two said there was no other option than to go up.
